Kuehne+Nagel · Statiegeld Nederland
To streamline the logistics process within the counting centres of Kuehne+Nagel and Statiegeld Nederland, Tible developed the Handheld Terminal App. This Android application serves as the crucial link between floor operations and Tible’s HAWK-DRS software and ensures that deposit bags are not lost, both within the logistics chain and within the IT system.

The client

Kuehne+Nagel manages the logistics and counting of return packaging such as PET bottles and cans in their counting centres on behalf of the national deposit system in the Netherlands.

Challenge

Manually registering shipments and managing loading documents in counting centres was error-prone and time-consuming. Operators had no real-time system to register truck loads, scan bags, and document discrepancies, which led to operational mistakes and loss of traceability in the process.

Approach

Tible developed an Android-based Handheld Terminal App that enables operators to:

  • Operator login via unique batch codes printed on-site.
  • Receive and confirm shipment orders based on loading documents.
  • Systematically scan bags with labels specifying type and category.
  • Report discrepancies immediately with comment functions for documentation.
  • Real-time synchronization with the HAWK-DRS system for full traceability.

Result

With the HHT app, Kuehne+Nagel has achieved a streamlined registration process that minimises operational errors and ensures full accountability. Operators can now efficiently process shipments, trace bags, and document discrepancies, while the system ensures that no bag is lost in the process.

Does this sound like music to your ears?

While 71% of European warehouse managers recognize the need for automation to reduce errors, many Dutch retailers continue to rely on manual processes that undermine their competitiveness. The question is therefore not if you should automate, but when you will take the step.
